Timmins Underground Gold Mine Tour

Gather in the dry where you change into mining gear for your trip underground with experienced underground miners. We provide you with a hard hat, lamp, belt, coveralls and boots, but we do recommend that you bring a warm pair of socks and a sweater; the temperature underground is a year-round 3 degrees Celsius!

Don't forget to bring your camera! You can spend the whole day or part of it - make your own agenda.

ON THE SURFACE

The HOLLINGER HOUSE is full of memorabilia: insights into the history of Timmins and life early in the century.

Try your luck at the PROSPECTOR'S HAVEN, an area set aside with tons of quartz rock. There you may find that elusive gold nugget!

The JUPITER HEADFRAME has two exhibit rooms and an observation deck overlooking an open pit and a panoramic view of Timmins.

Along the PROSPECTOR'S TRAIL, view the mineral outcrops and ore samples from across Northern Ontario. View display boards depicting early life in Porcupine mining camps.

THE MINER'S PICK GIFT SHOP features a large selection of clothing, souvenir items, jewellery and native crafts. If you can't find gold on the property, we have plenty of gold for sale at the Miner's Pick or shop at our on-line catalogue.

Take a break at the HARD HAT CAFE and enjoy our good old-fashioned home cooking or a simple sandwich with a nice hot or cool refreshment. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Group tour rate.

Our latest addition to the tour is our GOLD POUR featuring an authentic furnace to demonstrate the processing of gold. Great picture taking event. Check times for pour.

GO UNDERGROUND!

See the operation of a scaling bar, a slusher, a muck machine and an operating jack-leg drill. Highlights include the colourful drilling and blasting display, an underground rail ride, a mine rescue station, glass sculptures and the largest gold nugget you will ever see!

SUMMER (July 1 - August 29)
FOUR TOURS DAILY - 7 DAYS A WEEK
9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

FALL/WINTER (September 1 - October 31)
Wednesday to Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m until October 31st. The GMT will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Gold Mine Tour will be closed Labour Day as we have switched to our Fall schedule.
